Love

Before Kevin and Stacey's wedding ceremony, I was able to get a shot of the rings resting on the passage Kevin's dad, Tom, read from his Bible during the service.

"Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity." --Colossians 3:14

Duncan

From Blogger Pictures

This is a photo I took of Duncan while he was trying to sleep. I like this photo because he looks dumb.

I was lucky enough to spend this past weekend with my youth group, spawning a nostalgic browse through my "Youth Group Photos" folder. This one is from a 2004 spaghetti dinner.

Mt. McKinley

From Blogger Pictures

I took this photo in Denali National Park in Alaska. I love how the mountain almost doesn't look real.

Arrival of the Red Worms

So, my camera has been on the fritz lately, but cooperated long enough for me to get a few shots of the newly arrived red worms. In just a few months, these worms will transform ordinary fruit/veggie scraps into primo compost.

Farmer's Market

This is a photo from our trip to Russell Farm a few weeks ago. The colorful produce really looked beautiful together.

Monday Morning

This is a completely self-indulgent photo of how I spent my morning. I bought a cupcake from a West Village bakery and walked over to the Hudson River Park and proofread by the water.

This is another photo I took on the Binghamton Photo Walk. I was inspired to take this photo by the UM Campaign 10,000 doors (tenthousanddoors.org).

First Day of Fall

This is one of my favorite photos from apple picking this year. The composition of my son’s pudgy little hands around his first apple capture this memory perfectly!

Study of Kayak

These two photos are both from Seneca Lake this summer. These were taken during different phases of the sunset. I was trying to capture different colors behind this silhouette.

From Blogger Pictures

I know it's slightly creepy and all because I'm not married to Tim, but for some reason I really like this picture. Perhaps it's because of my stalkerish personality. This photo was taken at Vacation Bible School in July and you can see an out-of-focus Park Terrace UMC in the background. I did not get this close to Tim to take this picture. He, in fact, was charging me.

Photo taken on July 13, 2009, ISO 100, Exposure 1/200, Aperture 4.5

Amy

My camera has been broken since July. Luckily, this happened after Camp LEAD, at which I took many pictures of the great teenagers chosen by their churches to attend this camp. Here Amy is blowing up a plastic raft for an unspecified (on purpose) group activity.

I took this photo through a screendoor at my house while playing around with my new camera. I might be the only one who likes this picture, but I do. Photo taken July 8, 2009, ISO 500, Exposure 1/60, Aperture 5.6.

Fire in the Sky and on the Shore

While on vacation on Seneca Lake I took this photo using a slow shutter speed to capture some movement of the flames.

Owego Photo Walk

The Photo-op went on a photo walk of Owego, NY tonight. My camera has been really acting up as of late, but I was fortunate to be able to make a couple decent exposures. Using the monochrome mode seemed to help. The photo above features the row of businesses on Front Street that line the bank of the Susquehanna River. If you look closely, you can see where a new river walk is being constructed. The photo below was taken in monochrome, then as I tinkered around in Picasa I somehow managed to make the red in the flag appear. (Just don’t ask me how…)

Purple Thistle

This thistle was growing by the lakehouse on Seneca Lake where my family stayed. Once again I'm playing with the depth of field. The contrast between the sharp quills in the forground and the fuzzy ones in the background make this one of my favorite shots.

This photo was taken while on the Binghamton Photo Walk. I was playing with depth of field.

Worldwide Photo Walk - Sarah's Contribution

Here's my favorite of the ones I snapped on the Binghamton Photo Walk.

Binghamton Photo Walk

Four of us joined about thirty other photographers in Binghamton for Scott Kelby’s Second Annual Worldwide Photo Walk this past Saturday. I thoroughly enjoyed The Photo-op’s first official photography outing (including our dinner at The New Argo Restaurant.) I used some of the software that came with my camera to tinker around with tone curve on the photo above.

More photos from the walk can be viewed on Flickr. And while you’re visiting other sites, be sure to watch us going photo crazy on WBNG’s coverage of the photo walk.

Lily

I led a session on photography during activity time for Music Camp one day last week. We spent a few minutes talking about composition while making exposures of a flowerbed outside Founders’ Lodge. I thought of Sarah when I saw the rain drops still hanging out on this lily.

This week was paid summer staff training at Sky Lake. Yesterday, someone spotted this baby bat on the side of the old ice house. We all took a field trip to see it.

I enjoy photographing the flora and fauna in my yard. Here’s an exposure of a peony bud preparing to open.
